COMPANY

In 1996 Vitas and Marlene Kijauskas purchased their first boat, the Discovery.  They began exploring the Shipwrecks of Lake Erie.  Two years later, Discovery Dive Charters & Tours, Inc. and Underwater Research & Recovery, Inc. was established.  They started operating SCUBA diving charters and sightseeing tours on Lake Erie in the summer of 1998.  After their first dive charter, they knew this was exactly what they wanted to do.  But, considering the dive season is so short in Cleveland they decided to expand.  When Wildwood Marina and the Linda Mae were offered to them in 2000, they couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Today, they not only conduct Scuba Diving Charters and Sightseeing Tours, but they also operate
Cleveland’s ONLY  DAILY  Fishing Charter Head Boats, the Linda Mae and the Express.

Vitas & Marlene strive to do their best each and every day to make their business the best possible.  “We want our employees, family, friends and customers to have an incredible experience when they are working with Discovery Dive Charters & Tours, Inc.-Wildwood Marina”.

As a child, Vitas was a member of Sea Explorer Cleveland, Ship 311.  Growing up just steps from Wildwood, he spent every possible moment at Wildwood doing what he loves best, being in the water and exploring.  Not to mention diving in the water trying to find snagged sinkers so he could resell them to the fishermen to earn some spending money.  After working long days with his father and the rest of his family on their farm in Madison, Vitas would end his day before heading back to Cleveland, by going to the Lake to wash up, and again, end up diving and exploring the bottom to find swords, cannons and shipwrecks from the Civil War.

In Loving Memory
Jack Kijauskas
October 21, 1998 – October 23, 2003

Mid-September we took Jack to the Vet because she was having difficulty breathing.  She was diagnosed with a lung infection.  One thing led to another and after five long weeks, she lost her battle and passed away on October 23, 2003.  Jill was by Jack’s side every step of the way hoping her best friend would pull through.  She even stayed in bed with her on her last day.  Jack will always be in our hearts and thoughts and will be missed dearly.
